From Niger where 136 pupils of the Tanko Islamiyya School are being held by terrorists since May to Kaduna with more than 60 schoolchildren of Bethel Baptist School spending more than 90 days with their abductors. It is business as usual for the government.
The bandits holding the 136 pupils of the Islamiya school have told the school headteacher, Abubakar Alhassan, that six of the children have died.
Alhassan said that the bandits called to notify him of the death of the children.
He told Reuters that the bandits said the children died of illness and asked that the demanded ransom be paid for the release of the other children in captivity.
A parent whose seven children are being held by the kidnappers, Abubakar Adam also confirmed the news.
The bandits had earlier demanded the sum of N110 million but later raised the ransom to N200 million.
The parents of the abducted children had paid N30 million to the bandits after selling their land and other belongings. But they refused to release the children.
