Nigerian singer and one of P-Square duo, Peter Okoye has labelled the decision of the Economic Community of West African States, (ECOWAS) to direct its standby force to be at alert in its bid to restore constitutional order in the Niger Republic as “total madness.”
TheNiche had reported that ECOWAS ordered its stand by forces to get ready to proceed to Niger as it tries to reinstate the ousted democratically elected government in the country.
The subregional body at its Extraordinary Meeting in Abuja on Thursday, through its President, Omar Alieu Touray, issued its resolution on the recent coup by a military junta in Niger.

It statement partly reads, “Direct the committee of the Chief of Defence Staff to activate the ECOWAS standby force with all its elements immediately.
“Order the deployment of the ECOWAS stand-by force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger.
“Underscore its continued commitment to the restoration of constitutional order through peaceful means”
Reacting to the development on his verified Twitter handle, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P accused ECOWAS of joining the West to fight fellow Africans.
Speaking via his social media page he tweeted: “Africa joins the west to fight Africa. Total madness.”
