Upcoming Nigerian singer, Daniel Benson, better known as BNXN and formerly addressed as Buju, has taken a swipe at his colleague, Micheal Olayinka, a.k.a Ruger.

The duo’s rift began as far back as July, when Ruger replied to a tweet from BNXN’s fan who asserted that the ‘Kilometer crooner’ was the better artiste.

Ruger, while replying the fan, suggested that his fame in music came from his solo songs while BNXN, became popular due to collaborative efforts with other artistes.

He said, “I love Buju, he’s good but he’s not better than me. Everything I’ve done since the beginning was only RUGER. All my hits are JUST RUGER. I’m always proud going on stage around the world with my own hits and everyone is singing along. You see the difference?”

BNXN later released his new project, ‘Bad Since ’97′, on Wednesday, August 24, and seized the opportunity presented by his Apple Music Nigerian chart-topping album to take a dig at Ruger.

Sharing a picture of the album’s position on Thursday, BNXN wrote, “What if I, what if I what if I, COOOKKKK #BadSince97”

A tweet that seems to be referencing Ruger’s hits song, ‘Girlfriend’.

Responding to BNXN’s shade, Ruger told him to get a solo hit first before attempting to talk to him.

BNXN then asserted that he doesn’t believe in making a song and getting stuck, he also said music stars like Burna Boy are his yardstick.

“The project will ALWAYS be more important than the hit! Look at Burna Boy! That’s my yardstick, you think I wanna blow with 1/2 songs and I no fit come back ?? When he was dropping you didn’t call those songs hits back then but you see now? Open your eye patch,” he replied Ruger referring to his song ‘pirate get up’

Sharing pictures of Ruger’s albums, Pandemic EP and The Second Wave (Deluxe edition), which currently sit at number 64 and 33 respectively on the same charts, BNXN added, “Project #1 and I didn’t have to whine my waist”.
