Pro-Biafra separatist agitator, Simon Ekpa, has been released hours after his arrest on Thursday.
The Finnish Central Criminal Police confirmed the release of Ekpa on Thursday following his arrest at his Lahti apartment, according to HS reports.
The police claimed that its operation in Lahti and the subsequent arrest of the pro-Biafra agitator were in connection with an ongoing preliminary investigation.
“The person being questioned today is suspected of a crime. We will return to the title on Friday,” Tommi Reen from the Central Criminal Police told HS during a phone interview.
It was not immediately clear if his arrest had anything to do with his threat to South-East residents in Nigeria not to participate in Saturday’s presidential election.

The self-acclaimed disciple of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has been the brain behind numerous sit-at-home orders in the South-East which are sometimes marked by bloodshed and destruction of property.
He rose to prominence in July 2021 after he was announced as the lead broadcaster of Radio Biafra.
He was appointed to replace Kanu following the re-arrest of the IPOB leader by the Federal Government. After some weeks, IPOB announced Ekpa’s disengagement, citing his refusal to sign the rules of engagement of Radio Biafra.
