Shekau complained of betrayal in last recording

Abubakar Shekau

The biggest challenge of Nigeria’s jihadists are the jihadists themselves, not the Nigerian military, the last recording of Abubakar Shekau, the Boko Haram leader, has revealed.

According to HumAngle, the recording was made the day before he was killed by fighters loyal to the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP).

In the audio recording, Shekau’s voice sounded frail and dispirited. He complained of being deceived, making an inference to ISWAP which is led by Albanawi, the son of Muhammed Yusuf, the founder of Boko Haram.

He also said he was betrayed by people in his camp.

He alluded to a fierce battle which he lost many of his fighters, with others injured.
