Nigerian defender Shehu Abdullahi has refuted the news making the rounds that he is injured and may not be fit enough to represent Nigeria at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
Various news channels had reported that the Omonia Nicosia’s right back got injured during his club’s encounter with APOEL on Boxing Day and now a doubt for AFCON, which kicks off in less than two weeks.
Abdullahi was replaced by Paris Psaltis in the 37th minute of his club’s 4-2 defeat to city rivals APOEL on boxing day after sustaining an injury.

He said: “It was not a serious injury, I just had a knock on my left thigh but I am fine.
“The substitution was just precautionary.”
The former Kano Pillars star also stated that he is fit enough to honour his invitation as he will be arriving for the tournament on Tuesday, December 29, 2021.
He added: “I will be in Nigeria tomorrow (Tuesday) and get set for the camp proper.
“It’s always a good feeling to be called up by your nation.
“I am always honoured to play and represent Nigeria and I can’t wait to see the guys again.”
