BudGIT founder, Seun Onigbinde, has lamented how he transferred N225,000 to his driver’s Guaranty Trust Bank account, and within minutes, the exact amount was debited.
The speed with which the money was debited lend credence to an inside job, Onigbinde tweeted on Saturday, February 5.
In November last year, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raised the alarm that the majority of frauds in the banking sector were committed by insiders, especially those in the information and communication technology (ICT) department.

But GTB quickly deflected the blame, claiming that the recipient of the funds security setting might have been compromised.
However, the speed at which the funds were debited gives makes it unlikely for a random cyber crime fraudster to perpetrate without a help from an employee of GTB.
Seun Onigbinde had tweeted: “I transferred N225,000 to my driver’s. GTB account and within minutes, the same amount was debited from his account. GTB needs to come clean on what’s happening. This is arguably an inside job. I have been hearing of same experiences,” he said.
Seun Onigbinde later got a response from GTBtwitter handle, @gtbank_help.
@gtbank_help.
GTB responded: “
But Seun Onigbinde noted that the response from GTB was vague, as they did not even make public the process of debit and account that the funds were transferred to.
