Speaking via Instagram, Seun appreciated his wife and legal team and all who showed empathy for him while in police custody.

Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has expressed appreciation to his legal team for making his release from police custody possible.

Seun was released in the late hours of Tuesday after being with the police since May 15.

The singer was arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, Lagos State for allegedly slapping a police officer in uniform on May 13.

Speaking via Instagram, Seun appreciated his wife and legal team and all who showed empathy for him while in police custody.

”I want to say a profound thanks to everyone who showed me all this love. All my friends that showed up! Thanks most especially to my beautiful wife @chef yeidikuti,” he wrote.

The musician, son of the Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, added: “Last but not least, the legal team. Uncle Femi Falana, SAN, Uncle Olumide Fisika, SAN, Uncle Kayode Adegoke, SAN, Barrister Ogunlana, Ade Ademiluyi; and everyone on the team, I owe you my freedom and my sanity. Let’s go.”

Seun’s release was confirmed by his attorney, Olumide-Fusika, on Tuesday night.

His lawyer also confirmed that the singer will be at the Yaba Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for the proceedings that were adjourned due to the magistrate’s absence.
