A Lagos-based human rights and advocacy organisation, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has reacted to the verbal attacks by some sponsored group against a well respected human rights lawyer and activist, Mr Femi Falana (SAN).
In its twitter handle, SERAP wrote: “We condemn the use of a faceless and sponsored group to target Femi Falana SAN, a well-respected human rights lawyer.
“Nigerian authorities have an obligation to respect and protect the human rights of everyone, probe whoever is behind the group and hold them to account
“Femi Falana has a remarkable reputation of fighting dictatorship, and he’ll continue to fight for the human rights of everyone.
“If the authorities keep coming for Nigerians’ rights, we’ll keep seeing them in court. We’ll keep fighting to hold Nigerian authorities to account.
“Nigerian authorities must end growing crackdown on human rights defenders, activists, journalists and media freedom.
