September month of albums

To say that September is the month of albums is to put it the way it is. First it was WizKid who announced that he would be releasing his album in September. Then Davido followed after he postponed the release that had been earlier scheduled for August. No sooner had Davido taken a breath from his announcement than Jesse Jagz made his. Others who also announced album release for the month were Orezi (September 1) and Iyanya (September 19).

Wizkid’s album is yet to be titled, while Davido’s is titled ‘Baddest’ and was shelved from the planned August release due to what his manager, Kamal Ajiboye of Twenty 20 Media, described as “some exciting news coming up that will greatly benefit the album project”.

The albums from Wizkid and Davido are perhaps the most anticipated for the year, considering that hype has been on for a while and the two artistes seem to have no love lost between them.

Jesse Jagz of Choc Boi Nation will also be releasing an album titled ‘Return of the Gods’ this month. Making the announcement in August, he had said the album is “going to be taking up a greater part of my time, and right now, it’s what I’m focused on.”

Orezi from Sprisal Entertainment has since released his debut album titled The Ghen Ghen.

“I am now ready to drop it (album) because it is hot. Every other artiste planning to drop an album in September should be advised because from September till next year, Orezi will rule the club houses, the streets and airwaves,” he declared.

Iyanya is set to release a new album, his third. His first was titled My Story and he followed with Desire. To take place in Abuja at ThisDay Dome on September 19, Iyanya made the announcement on his instagram page.
