The request for participants to pay before attending a Senate Committee Workshop on Electoral Matters, has generated angry reactions.

The Senate Committee on Electoral Matters is asking every participant to a workshop scheduled for August 30, to pay the sum of N50,000.
According to an invitation letter for the two days workshop cited by TheNiche, the event is aimed at acquainting political parties, their candidates and other stakeholders with the new Electoral Act and the rules governing the conduct of the 2023 election.
In the invitation letter sent to political parties, and signed by the Deputy Director, Clerk, Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Bello Babatunde, the workshop is in collaboration with one Global Gold Consult towards sensitising participants to the new Electoral Act and guidelines for elections in Nigeria.
For this, each participant is expected to pay a sum of N50,000 for cost of venue, tea break, lunch, programme materials and other logistics.

The workshop hopes to attract thousands of participants, including all the governorship, deputy governorship, senatorial, House of Reps, State House of Assembly, and leaders of the 18 political parties in Nigeria.
