Sedhiou Stadium named after Sadio Mane

Mane scored the decisive penalty that clinched the trophy for Senegal in a thrilling shoot-out win over Egypt and Sedhiou Stadium was named after him

Liverpool striker, Sadio Mane has been rewarded for helping Senegal to lift the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in their history with Sedhiou stadium named after him.

Sadio Mane ended the 33rd edition of AFCON in Cameroon with three goals and two assists.

Apart from that, the 29-year-old scored the decisive penalty that clinched the trophy for the Teranga Lions in a thrilling shoot-out win over Egypt in the final of the tournament.

For his troubles during the competition, the Liverpool striker was rewarded with a stadium named after him by the mayor of.is home town, Abdoulaye Diop

The mayor, while confirming this said:

“Sadio Mane has honoured all of Senegal, the Sedhiou region and the whole Casamance area.

“I’ve decided to name the Sedhiou Stadium after him.

“With this I wish to convey to him the gratitude of all the sons and daughters of the region.

“He has made all mankind aware of Bambali and Sedhiou, the region’s main city,”
