A joint team of security operatives has arrested three members of a criminal gang of kidnappers in Aguata Council Area of Anambra State.
They were arrested on April 27, 2023.
The arrested suspects are Chinonso Offor, a native of Enugu State, resident in Ekwulobia; Hycent Ugwuike, native of Nsukka, resident in Onitsha; and Samuel Sunday from Akwa-Ibom but resident in Isuochi, Abia State.
After a gun battle, the security operatives also rescued a suspected kidnap victim who was taken captive at Neni by Okacha Junction.

Two AK-47 with live ammunition, fake police and army uniforms, two cell phones, two bulletproof vests, two walkie-talkies, one black Prado Jeep with registration number: GWA – 696 CM ABUJA, one Ash Lexus 350 with registration number: EKY – 605GV LAGOS and others were recovered.
Confirming the incident to the press, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspects confessed to the Anambra State Police operatives as being members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The suspects are still in police custody undergoing further investigations.
