Security beef up in Katsina

.Five units of mobile policemen arrive

No fewer than five units of mobile policemen and other regular policemen have been mobilized and deployed from neighbouring states to beef up security and combat crimes in Katsina State.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the development said the police men were drawn from the states of Kano and Jigawa.

DSP Isah explained that two units of the mobile police men had been drafted to Mai’Adua and Daura axis while each of the remaining three units was deployed to Malumfashi, Jibia and Funtua axis, respectively.

He disclosed that additional numbers of police men had been drafted to Funtua to provide escort for the relief materials being transported to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the North Eastern part of the country.

Isah said that the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 1, Kano along with the state police commissioner, Usman Abdullahi are working hard to rid the state of crime.

He said, “For security reasons, I cannot give you the exact number of policemen drafted to the state from the neighbouring states to assist us in combating crimes; but I can categorically tell you that five units of mobile policemen are already on ground to assist us in this respect.

“They are drafted from Kano and Jigawa and have been deployed to various axis of the state.”
