Amukoko residents around the vicinity claimed that there were no pillars to hold the school building together, contributing to the collapse of the fence.
Tragedy has struck Amukoko area of Lagos State after a fence collapsed on two children on Sunday.
The collapsed fence belongs to Covenant Point Academy.
According to Peoples Gazette, the tragic incident involved a boy, Samat Saheed, and a nine-year-old girl, who were close to the school fence before the collapse.
Residents of Amukoko and witnesses at the scene said the school fence collapsed on the children, instantly crushing them to death.
One of the locals said the boy had his head crushed by the fence on impact, while the girl lost consciousness immediately and died afterward.
A witness disclosed that the police were called to come and handle the situation, which led to the arrest of the owner of the school.
Amukoko residents around the vicinity claimed that there were no pillars to hold the school building together, contributing to the collapse of the fence.
“They just stacked blocks. There was no wiring, no pillar, and nothing to hold the building together. That’s why it fell easily,” one of the residents in the vicinity said.
The boy, Samat, was buried the same day following Islamic rights.
