Sanwo-Olu suspends agency chief, sacks facility managers over Dr. Vwaere Diaso’s death

The General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA), Adenike Adekambi, has been suspended following the death of Doctor Vwaere Diaso.

The government also sacked and blacklisted facility managers of the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island.

These decisions, according to a statement by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Olumide Sogunle, were taken after initial findings.

According to Sogunle, the government set up a panel to look into likely causes of the accident, identify culpable persons and suggest ways of preventing a recurrence.

Dr Diaso died on Tuesday after the elevator at General Hospital, Odan, Lagos crashed from the 10th floor to the ground floor.

The female doctor was trapped in the elevator for more than 40 minutes before she was rescued, and there was no blood available to resuscitate her.

Diaso, a graduate of Babcock University, had two weeks left to complete her housemanship before the tragic incident.
