Sanwo-Olu sends list of 39 commissioner-nominees to Lagos Assembly, Mbah submits 15 names to Enugu House of Assembly

Governors of Lagos and Enugu states, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Peter Mbah, on Friday, sent the list of their proposed commissioners to their respective Houses of Assembly.

Sanwo-Olu’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile, said on his Twitter handle on Friday that Sanwo-Olu submitted 39 names for ratification.

He said that 30 per cent of the cabinet designates was in favour of women, to ensure gender inclusion.

“Lagos State Gov @jidesanwoolu transmits list of proposed cabinet members to the Lagos State House of Assembly for ratification.

”The list consists of 39 names with 30 per cent women, youths, technocrats and politicians,” he said.

In the same vein, Mbah submitted a list of 15 commissioner-nominees to the Enugu State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation of appointment to the Cabinet Office of Enugu State

Their nomination was contained in a list sent to the House of Assembly by the Governor, which was read by Speaker Uche Ugwu.

The list, which was signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, include Prince Lawrence Eze (Prince of Mburumbu); former Commissioners Okey Ogbodo and Kingsley Ude as well as a veteran broadcaster, Aka Eze Aka.

Onyia, who said the list was not yet comprehensive, appealed for its speedy consideration.

The 1999 Constitution, as amended, gives the president and governors a maximum of 60 days to submit the list of their ministerial nominees and commissioners to the legislature.
