The General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, has cautioned the country’s youths against indulging in social vices, saying the young ones are the future leaders and should prepare themselves for the challenges associated with leadership.
Sanusi made the appeal while receiving in his office at the NFF secretariat, students of the Faculty of Management Sciences of the Uthman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
“The essence of education is to prepare people for the challenges of the future. As young ones, you are to imbibe the tenets of discipline, dedication to chosen career and commitment to making the immediate environment and the society at large better.
“Football, nay sports, keep the youth away from social vices and prepare them to leadership roles. That is why we cherish the role that we play here at the NFF; we keep millions of young ones off society’s evil ways by getting them purposefully and productively –engaged.”
The excited students, among them Sanusi’s second son, Mohammed Sanusi Mohammed, took time appreciating and taking photographs with the FIFA U17 World Cup, Africa U20 Cup of Nations and the Africa U23 Cup of Nations among the several trophies in the NFF General Secretary’s office.
President of the faculty, Halidu Shuaibu, expressed appreciation of the students for the opportunity, saying the students have seen the trophies previously only on television.
