Samuel Kalu, Super Eagles star signs for Watford

Super Eagles forward, Samuel Kalu became the fifth Nigerian player to join English Premier League side, Watford.

Nigerian winger, Samuel Kalu has committed his future to English Premier League club, Watford for the next three and a half years.   

The 24-year-old completed the move to the relegation-threatened London club from French Ligue1 side Bordeaux and his contract will last till June 2025.

In 2021 the Hornets signed Eagles’ goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye from Sparta Rotterdam before loaning him back to the club for the rest of the season.

They also recently sacked their Italian coach, Cladio Ranieri, and replaced him with 70-year-old English gaffer Roy Hodgson. 

Samuel Kalu becomes the fifth super Eagles player to sign for the club after Ogenekoro Etebo, William Troost-Ekong, Maduka Okoye, and Emmanuel Dennis. 

He is also their fourth signing of the January window at Vicarage Road, as he joins Hassane Kamara, Samir, and midfielder Edo Kayembe, who were brought in before him. 

A statement from the club’s official website reads: “The 24-year-old signs for the Hornets following three-and-a-half successful years in France’s top tier, where he scored nine goals,

“Capable of playing on either flank, Kalu is a versatile option in a competitive squad, typically operating on the right-wing.”
