Arsenal defender, William Saliba, has  criticised the formation his national team coach, Didier Deschamps used against Tunisia after their defeat to the African side in a World Cup match played on Wednesday.

Deschamps, having secured the last 16 spot, made nine changes to the side that beat Denmark in their second group game, as he rested some marquee players for the knockout stages.

Despite bringing them on in the second half of the game, France still went down to the African representative.

When asked why they lost the match, Saliba told beIN Sport that the number of changes made to the starting XI and the decision of the French boss to play some players out of position contributed to why they struggled in the 1-0 defeat against Tunisia.

He said, “The team was changed, there were a lot of players who had never played together, so it was a bit difficult.

“There were players who weren’t in their usual position, so they weren’t used to it.”

Meanwhile, William Saliba whose impressive form for North London club, Arsenal, helped them stay top of the Premier League heading into the World Cup, has not seen much action under the watch of Deschamps in Qatar.
