Cardiff said Emiliano Sala’s contract is not legally binding. This what the Welsh club intends to tell FIFA on April 3 when it meets Nantes on the case.

Nantes have complained to FIFA and Cardiff have until April 3 to respond.

The Welsh club has refused to pay the transfer fee for the 28-year-old striker who was killed in a plane crash in January.

Cardiff will argue that Sala’s contract has been rejected by the Premier League and is therefore null and void.

Sala was unable to sign a revised deal before his death on January 21.

According to reports, Cardiff will also argue that further contract clauses proposed by Nantes have not been met.

FIFA registered the Transfer Certificate on January 21 by 5:30 pm, the day Sala died in a plane crash. Nantes said they are fully compliant with FIFA rules.

According to a spokesperson for Cardiff, the club is aware of FIFA’s request for a response by April 3 and is processing that accordingly.
