Screenwriter, Producer and popular Nollywood actress, Ruth Kadiri, has called out Nigerians for defending corrupt politicians whenever they are chastised on social media platforms.
She made this known on her verified Instagram pages, where she chastised fellow celebrities and Nigerians for misplaced priorities.
The 33-year-old actress, apparently got fed up with the attitude of Nigerians who defend politicians whenever they are reprimanded for their wrong deeds.
According to her, Nigerians are only interested in private lives of celebrities, who they want their marriages to crash and not politicians who are plundering away their common wealth.
“How do you fight for people who don’t want to be fought for?”
“How do you defend people who will tell you to rest after two posts about you fighting for their cause on social media?
“The only thing they want to read about is how a celebrity’s marriage ended. and how an actress is sleeping with a married man.
“Call a politician out and 10 other truth hating, benefit hungry, clouts chasing celebrities will say #istandwith. Nigerians don’t deserve help. Please don’t bother,” Kadiri said.
She was not alone in her condemnation of this attitude. Another of her colleague, Mary Njoku, supported her position on the matter .
Njoku said people should put their energies in helping their families and only those who want to be helped.
Nigerians have also reacted to her outburst, while majority felt it was justified, few others asked her to calm down and urged her not to stop playing her part in the nation’s building.
