German tactician and ex-Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has denied the allegation by Roma coach, Jose Mourinho that Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen dives to gain undue advantage in games.

The Portuguese recently praised the  striker and put him on the same level as Chelsea legend and former Ivorian striker, Didier Drogba after he scored a great goal against Roma in Napoli’s 2-1 win last Sunday.

Mourinho, however, warned that for Osimhen to succeed in a league like the Premier League and take his game to the next level, he would have to quit diving during games.

Speaking at a press conference after the game, Mourinho said: “He is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive,” replied Mourinho.

Reacting to the allegation Rohr, who handed the Napoli striker his senior national team debut for Nigeria as an 18-year-old in 2017 defended him.

According to PUNCH, the German tactician believes he has improved with each game. He also denied the allegation that he dives during matches.

Rohr said: “Victor is learning a lot in Italy, he is becoming a great professional now.

“Napoli is efficient with him and he’s not a diver.”

Osimhen’s stunning strike inside the penalty box was his 38th Serie A goal in 67 games since he joined Napoli in 2020 from Lille in a club-record deal.
