Two armed robbers in a Champagne Gold Toyota Car at about 12:00pm today dispossessed a man believed to be about 50 years of age of N1million after shooting two bullets in the tarred road to scare people away, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.
Our Correspondent reports that the incident occurred close to Jubilee Conference Center, JCC, along Enerhen Road in Effurun, Delta State.
The victim who was in a Dark Blue Toyota Car with his driver just withdrew the said amount from a bank and was allegedly heading to pay his staff salaries when his car was double-crossed by two gunmen.
Eye witnesses claimed that one of the gunmen who drove the car wore Army Camouflage, while the other member of the gang came out from the Champagne Gold Toyota Car and shot twice on the tarred road to scare possible intruders.
The victim who was apparently scared of the heavily built and fair in complexion armed robber holding an AK 47 Rifle, scampered for safety leaving his driver and the N1 million he went to withdraw from the bank inside the car. Surprisingly, the gun-wielding robber went straight to the victim’s driver, demanded for the car key and went to open the boot, raised up the spare tyre where the money was hidden and successfully made away with the money without any resistance.
Incidences of gang robbery have risen in the twin-cities of Warri and Effurun, Delta State recently with the hoodlums most times driving to the homes and shops of their victims, pretending to be customers and quietly robbing their victims of cash and other valuables. In some cases, customers of banks who withdraw large sums of money are sometimes tailed from the banks to less busy areas or their homes before the robbers carry out their nefarious activities.
