Former England defender, Rio Ferdinand has explained why Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger reacted poorly at full time after his side crashed out in the rounds of eight of the Champions League.
Ferdinand made a case for the German defender while speaking on BT Sport after the encounter.
After the match, Real Madrid players made friendly sporting gestures toward him, as they tried to lift his spirit by speaking with him, but he remained furious on the ground and didn’t listen to anyone.

Rudiger went as far as pushing away Real Madrid centre-back David Alaba, who had gone to console him after the match.
The West London side, Chelsea, were eliminated from the competition despite winning 3-2 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, due to their 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge a week earlier.
Ferdinand while rationalising Rudiger’s action said: “It’s emotional, man. And I don’t think he’d necessarily want to react like that or see those pictures.
“But the feeling there you can’t control it. We’ve all been there after big games, I’ve said and done things that you regret, you think: ‘that’s not me, that’s not my normal personality’. But this is what football means to people”
