England defender, Rio Ferdinand, has incurred the wrath of Arsenal fans following claim that the Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta could leave the Emirates and join his old club, Manchester United.

He made this known on Monday while speaking on his Vibe with FIVE podcast.

According to him, if Manchester United decides to replace Dutch tactician, Erik ten Hag with Arteta, the Spaniard will gladly leave the Emirates for Old Trafford.

Addressing the issue during the show, Rio Ferdinand said: “Mikel Arteta would leave Arsenal to join Man United, 100 per cent.

“No one is saying it’s happening but if Man United in a wild dream said, ‘do you know what, Erik ten Hag, thank you’ or Erik ten Hag has been poached by Bayern Munich, and he goes there, and then Man United say top of the list is Arteta.

Arteta is going in and saying to the lads, ‘listen guys, it’s been emotional but I’ve got to move, I’ve got to go.’”

However, after the podcast made it to the social media, Arsenal fans trooped to the comment section to slam Ferdinand for making such a statement.

Most of those who commented  concluded that his comment was not rooted in fact and insisted that he was just stating his wish.
