The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged workers to return to work after the two-day warning strike.

NLC president, Joe Ajaero, stated this in a press release on Wednesday, thanking the union’s affiliates who were actively involved in the warning strike.

Ajaero said their united message resonated loudly with the government and it would take an inattentive ear not to listen.

“As we mark the end of the two-day nationwide warning strike today, at the stroke of midnight, we earnestly call upon you all to gracefully conclude the strike and return to work tomorrow in accordance with our initial agreement,” the statement said.

“…In the event that the government fails to provide the appropriate responses to our demands, we encourage you to maintain your steadfast resolve. The same passion and determination that fuelled this warning strike will be crucial if we find ourselves compelled to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike.”

The NLC began the two-day warning strike on Tuesday.

The union and its affiliates are, among other things, demanding more from the government to help the public cope with the removal of fuel subsidy.
