Man United hosted London side, West Ham United at Old Trafford in a battle to earn the fourth position in the English Premier League (EPL)

Both teams began with the intent to outdo each other and earn the fourth Champions League position but none of the teams could muster a shot on target throughout the first half.

It seemed the game was going to end in a draw, as the visitors frustrated their host, and stifled them of goal-scoring opportunities with a well-organised defensive display.

But with less than 30 seconds of the 3 minutes of injury time remaining, Marcus Rashford scored the winner in a move that involved all three substitutes, as Manchester United leapfrogged West Ham into the Premier League’s top four

The Hammers came close to scoring before Rashford settled the match, Jarrod Bowen drove a shot into the side-netting before Tomas Soucek’s glancing header bounced just wide of the far post with four minutes remaining.

The victory took United into the top four for the first time in three months and secured back-to-back wins for the first time under Ralf Rangnick.

The Hammers however dropped down to the fifth position on the table, with Tottenham and Arsenal waiting in the wings to further push them down if they win their games on Saturday.
