Afrobeats singer and rapper, Erhiga Agarivbie, better known by his stage name Erigga, has claimed “Headies “, a popular music award show, deliberately left out artistes from the South-South of Nigeria.

The 36-year-old rapper, who hails from Warri in Delta State, made the assertion via a recent tweet, where he also labelled the organisers of the award as “fakers”.

According to Erigga, those who put the show together have been ignoring artistes from the region for a while because they do not respect them or their craft.

The rapper, using the F-word, went on to notify his fans and other netizens of his decision to start boycotting the award and everything related to it.

Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote: “Na from here I don take boycott all these f**kers (headies) the disrespect was too much for the south-south to take …. If you don’t like us and not going to respect our craft then it’s f**k you and everything u represent, that’s it”

His outburst comes a day after the Headies Awards released a list of nominees for different categories of the 2023 edition, which is set to hold in Lagos soon.

After his post made the rounds on social media, his fans took to the comment section and urged him not to let the snub affect his morale, as they insisted that despite the disappointment, he remains a very talented singer

Erigga is not the only famous name missing from the long list, ace Afrobeat star and Grammy Awards winner, Wizkid and controversial street pop artist, Portable are among notable singers who are conspicuously missing from the list of nominees.
