Rangick, however, told the wantaway striker that no club has shown interest in him and that he can only leave Old Trafford if clubs make offers.

He said:  “Yes, we [him and Martial] spoke I think it was yesterday [Wednesday], we spoke at length. He explained to me he’s been at mufc now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“I Martial, listen, as long as there’s no club showing interest in him, and it should not only be in the interest of the player it should also be in the interest of the club. So far, there’s been no offer from any club & as long as this is the case he‘ll stay.”

The 63-year- old coach also said he discussed extensively with Paul Pogba on his future at the club while he was in Dubai recovering from injury and when he got back.

He added that the player, for now, is focused on getting fit and playing again but added that he needs a few more weeks to start playing again.

“Yes, of course, I’ve spoken to Paul [Pogba]. On the day he came back from Dubai we spoke in person. We also spoke over the phone when he was still in Dubai.

“Right now, it’s about for him [Pogba] to get fit again, to get training fit, not just be match fit. I think this will take as far as I know another couple of weeks,” he said.

He ended the conversation by assuring that most of the players are fit and ready to play later today against Newcastle United.

“The energy level was high, all the players were fully engaged and everybody was on board. I’m not worried about physical state the team is in – they seem to be extremely fit.” Rangnick added.
