Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello of Niger State has assured all Igbo in parts of the state that there was no cause for alarm in the October 1st deadline quit notice against Igbo living in northern parts of the country.
He said that his administration would guarantee adequate security of their lives and properties.
Governor Sani Bello gave the assurance when he hosted the Igbo community in the state ahead of the October 1 quit notice by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF).
He said that the group did not represent the voice of the north.
Bello told the Igbo delegation led by Eze Igbo, Eze Pampas Ngozi Wahiwe, that Nigeria has come of age when citizens are expected to focus on what ‘unites us as a people and not divisive tendencies that destroys us as a nation’.
Governor Bello said, “I am not loosing sleep over the matter and you people shouldn’t either. I want to assure you that Niger state government will do everything to protect and ensure the safety of the Igbo community and indeed all the residents of the state”.
