PSC said the recruitment exercise was conducted in line with relevant guidelines and provisions of the law

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has described claims by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) that its recent recruitment exercise was flawed with Irregularities as false.
PSC also insisted that it did not cancel the list of successful candidates recently released for recruitment into the constables cadre of the police.
The commission made these known on Tuesday via a statement by its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani.
TheNiche had earlier reported the NPF alleged that the recruitment process was marred by corruption, stressing that the final list contained names of people who never applied.
Speaking in a statement titled, “Police Confirms 2022 Constable Recruitment Process Marred With Irregularities, Alleged Corruption” Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said:
“Upon careful scrutiny of the list released on the PSC portal, it was discovered that several names of persons purported to be names of successful candidates are those who did not even apply and therefore did not take part in the recruitment exercise.
“Also, the published list contains several names of candidates who failed either the Computer Based Test (CBT) or the physical screening exercise or both just as there are those who made it to the last stage of the exercise but were disqualified having found medically unfit through the standardised medical test but who also made the list of successful candidates as published by the PSC.”

After the NPF made its observations known, there were reports that PSC succumbed to pressure from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and cancelled the final list of successful candidates.
However, speaking on Tuesday, Ani said that such cancellation did not emanate from PSC and urged the public to disregard it.
He insisted that the recruitment exercise was conducted in line with relevant guidelines and provisions of the law.
He further said the commission had just concluded a routine maintenance of its portal containing the list of the successful candidates.
“The commission is in control of the situation and has since restored the recruitment portal with its original contents.
“Successful candidates are advised to ignore this deliberate antics of desperate groups bent on destroying the good work of the commission.
“The commission is committed to giving the nation a merit based and inclusive recruitment exercise.
“It will continue to ensure that federal character, gender sensitivity and merit are the bedrock of its recruitment process,” he said.
