Buhari who spoke through the Director General of his campaign organization-BUHARI 2015 SUPPORT GROUP CENTRE, Alhaji Umaru Dembo, also urged the electorates in the state to remain very vigilant and steadfast, so as to forestall any form of rigging or manipulation of the election by opponents.
In a solidarity message to the APC and the people of Osun Alhaji Dembo encouraged the party faithful not to allow themselves to be intimidated by the heavy presence of security agencies in the state. He noted that “under normal political situation, electionsneed no military presence”.
The statement however reminded the security agencies deployed to the state for the election, “to remember that they are being funded by the tax payers in the country, hence must work for the interest of the people and not that of any political party”.
It also advised the Independent National Electoral Commission[ INEC], “to ensure that a credible, free and fair election is conducted that would receive international acceptance and see their duty as a necessary one in the democratic development of the country”, adding that the commission is “therefore expected to work without fear or favour”.
