The victory of Prof Soludo and the emphatic nature of the win, as shown by the result the of Anambra election confirms the saying that “every election is local”
The returning officer, Prof Florence Obi declared the APGA candidate as the Governor-Elect in the wee hours of today, after he polled 112, 229 votes to beat his closest rivals,
Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 53,807, came a distant second, while Sen. Andy Uba of the All Progressive Congress (APC) came third with 43,285 votes.

A critical review of the votes among the three leading candidates revealed Soludo scored 53.6% of the votes, while PDP and APC got 25,.7%, and 20.7% respectively.
This in essence suggests that had APC and PDP closed ranks during the election, the APGA candidate would still have trumped the duo by 7.2 % of votes cast among the three candidates.
They had a combined total of 46.4% of the votes, while Prof Soludo the winner got 53.6% of the votes cast for the three leading candidates.
Another critical factor is that these three front-runners in the Anambra governorship election, are from Aguata LGA and the result declared by INEC shows a clear preference for Soludo by their kinsmen.
The APGA candidate defeated Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the local government.
Soludo almost doubled the votes gathered by his nearest rival, as he pulled 9,136 votes, Uba, APC candidate, came a distant second with 4,773 votes, while Ozigbo, the PDP candidate, came third with 3,798 votes.
Perhaps, the only deviation from the general voting pattern in the Aguata LGA election, is that Andy Uba came second ahead of Ozigbo, who was second in most of the remaining 20 local governments.
The superiority of Prof Soludo and his party APGA was further emphasized by the defeat of Peter Obi, former governor of the state and PDP chieftain, in his local government.
Only the candidate of YPP, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, was able to beat Soludo, in his local government, another proof that all elections are determined by the people in the area.
Ozigbo of the PDP must have been encouraged by previous performances of his party in national elections, but the outcome of the governorship election has made it clear that APGA is the party of choice in Anambra state.
