The Senatorial Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ondo Central Senatorial District for the February 25 election, Dr Seun Majasan, has urged the Nigeria President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make the issue of security and safety a top priority in his programmes so as to restore hope to Nigerians
Majasan in an open letter to Mr President-elect, Asiwaju Tinubu dated 19th May, 2023 pointed out that “it is only by putting an end to insecurity in Nigeria that its existence can be guaranteed
Secondly, he said, the President-elect should use his wealth of experience to address the myriad of challenges bedeviling the nation.
His words: “Your Excellency sir, there is hunger in the land, help eradicate poverty from this great nation Nigeria.
“First of all, I would like to personally congratulate you your Excellency Sir, our next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the great victory attained from the recent general elections February 25, 2023, though, I was not your supporter at first but later realized you are God’s gift to Nigeria to better the lives of its citizens, to make Nigeria an habitable home for all and to restore the lost glory of Nigeria.
“Let me make this known to you as a concerned citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, please your Excellency sir, make our security and safety be your top priority. Why am I saying this? You cannot stop crime if we citizens have to pay the Police to report crime, no it cannot be done that way, special note to the Inspector General of Police. It is not a news that when a crime is been reported to the police, the person making the report would have to pay the police before any action could be taken, this is not good enough and I am talking from several experiences both personal and from many other citizens, many are now scared to report crimes or suspected future crimes and that is why crime can never be stopped.
“Also please look into Police brutality and make a total reform of the Nigerian Police Force. Please your excellency sir, help us fix this in your first 100 days in office.
Secondly, your excellency sir, there is hunger in the land, help eradicate poverty from this great nation Nigeria. Thirdly and lastly, help create homes for the homeless and less privileged.
“Your Excellency sir, my President, do these for us and posterity will never forget your good deeds, your legacy will continue to speak even after you have gone to meet your ancestors”, Majasan added
