Primate Okoh elected head of global Anglican body

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, has been elected as Chairman of the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) Primates Council.

The election took place recently at the primates’ meeting overseas, according to a communiqué issued at the end of the Synod of the Diocese of Oleh, Delta State held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Uzere in Isoko South Local Council of the state.

It was signed by the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. John Usiwoma Aruakpor and Ven. Godwin Ogbodo, the clerical Synod secretary.

The synod enjoined Christians to remember Primate Okoh in prayer for a successful and progressive leadership of the church.

The theme of the synod was, “Made Salt and Light to Build and Transform Nations” and kicked off with a lecture entitled: “The Role of the Church in Building a Good Society in Nigeria,” delivered by Prof. Jerry Gana, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, University of Lagos.
