Savio Bosco Alumni Association (SABAA) will kick-off its first retreat/re-union at the Arch-bishop Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral and Conference Centre, Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Council of Anambra State.
The Three-day event commences today, Friday, with arrivals of the members from all the parts of the world. The second day, which is the event proper, will commence with pontifical mass at 7am by the Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, who was the rector of both institutions before he became the bishop of the diocese of Awka.
The retreat lecture initially billed to be delivered by former Gov. Peter Obi, who will be occupied by the PDP Convention, will now be delivered by Prof. Stan Udedi, the Dean, Students’ Affairs of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Besides being an ex-seminarian, Udedi also thought in the Seminary during his formation.
Part of the events is the visit to the two schools – St Dominic Savio Seminary, Akpu and St. John Bosco Seminary, Isuanicoha.
All the rectors that have served in both institutions will also be appreciated.
Founded in 1980 by the late Archbishop Albert Obiefuna, the seminary trained over 50 percent of the priests serving in the Diocese of Awka during the minor part of their formation.
