Reports making the rounds that minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun had resigned her appointment may be unfounded.
The presidency is yet to see her letter of resignation.
Online media were awash on Friday with reports claiming Adeosun had resigned, apparently due to the alleged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate scandal.
TheNiche had contacted the Presidency on the said resignation, and the response from President Muhammadu Buhari who employed Adeosun is that he does not have a letter to that effect.
Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu told TheNiche in a short SMS: “If there is a letter to that effect, I have not seen it. Thanks.”
Shehu’s response coincided with the rebuttal from the aides to the Minister of Finance who also dismissed the widespread rumour indicating that their boss, has resigned her appointment on Friday.
Earlier, Tribune online correspondent who was at the Ministry confirmed that Adeosun remained at her desk up to 3.35 pm.
A senior aide of the Minister who was, however, unauthorised to speak on the matter said: “it is not true.”
“You should notice that we have not spoken on this matter since July 7 when the issue of NYSC certificate broke.
“It is an agenda that they are pursuing and we will not help them to authenticate that.
“Í am here with you. You can also see the other aides and security details at their duty posts.
“Even the Minister is in her office right now carrying on with her work. Don’t mind them”, the aide declared.
Our correspondent also observed a normalcy around her office without any kind of anxiety or frenzy in their demeanour.
Also, Director of Information in the ministry, Dodo said he had no information concerning Adeosun’s alleged resignation.
Another senior official who would not want to be quoted insisted, however, that “there is nothing like that.”
