Preparations heighten for Etisalat Under-15 Football Championship, NSSF says

The Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) says preparations are in top gear for a successful first edition of the Etisalat Under-15 Football Championship.

The championship will run from April 19 to April 25 in Lagos.

NSSF’s President, Ibrahim Mohammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that the eight states to participate in the tournament qualified from their various zones.

“We are planning this tournament for our younger teenagers. On our part, everything is ready and the children are eager to play too.

“We hope and pray for a peaceful atmosphere after the gubernatorial election, like we had after the presidential elections.

“Because we don’t want our children to be caught in between any political drama.

“It’s going to be a very entertaining competition based on the skills displayed during the regional qualifiers,’’ he said.

Lagos State will be represented by Green Spring Schools, while Asegun High School of Oyo, Government Secondary School of Owerri, and Washington Memorial Grammar School of Onitsha will be participating.

Other participants are Rimi College of Kaduna, Government Model Secondary School of Bida in Niger, Army Day Junior Secondary School of Sokoto and Winners College of Akure.
