Nigerian gospel singer, Aduke Ajayi, better known as Aduke Gold, has sadly passed away.

Her demise comes in the wake of the death of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who died on April 28.

Confirming the artiste’s death via her social media page on Tuesday, fellow gospel singer, Esther Igbeke posted a tribute with Aduke Gold’s picture and caption it: “A general has fallen. RIP.”

She, however, did not disclose the cause of her death.

Aduke Gold who started music professionally in 2004, came to stardom with her live performance at the first remembrance of the late gospel artiste, Baba Ara. 

She further gained prominence with the release of her popular eight-track album, which featured her breakthrough single, “Nitori 0go” (translated as ‘Because of Glory’).

She once shared her inspiring journey to stardom on her Instagram handle, revealing her early struggles.

According to her, the experiences she gained while selling slippers, yam and fried fish, becoming an orphan at the age of four, and battling severe vertigo shaped her music career.

Her academic achievements were as impressive as her musical career.

She earned a degree in History and International Relations from Lagos State University through a scholarship and holds a Diploma in Montessori Education from the UK.

Aduke who was the 11th child of her late parents grew up in the Ogba and Badagry areas of Lagos State.
