Police say rumoured planned terrorist attack on UNIABUJA untrue

Police also told Abuja residents that adequate personnel and equipment have been deployed to secure their safety.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has urged Abuja residents to go about their daily activities without fear, saying rumours of planned terrorists attack and abduction of students from the University of Abuja campus are fake.

The security outfit was reacting to social media reports that there has been palpable tension within the university and its environs.

Speaking via a statement, FCT’s  police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, described the reports as “nothing but baseless publications propagated by rumour mongers aiming to create unfounded panic and apprehension among FCT residents and university community.”

She went on to assure all residents that adequate personnel and equipment have been deployed to guarantee  their safety.

She added, ““The Command hereby reiterates its commitment to securing and safeguarding the lives and property of residents in the FCT as adequate deployment of personnel and equipment have been implemented to enhance the security situation within the FCT, which includes the University of Abuja.”
