Police rescue 5, pastor, wife, 3 others still in kidnappers den

Security operatives in Kwara state are still searching for five kidnapped victims abducted by kidnappers on highways in the state at the weekend.

The victims are among over 10 people kidnapped by two different gangs of kidnappers at two different places at the weekend.

The two places are Kwara/Ekiti states highway at Ekan meje area where a pastor and his wife were among the people kidnapped and Eleyin village area along  Oke-Onigbin/Omu-Aran road on Ilorin/Kabba highway where seven occupants of a Sienna bus were abducted.

The police with the support of the local vigilante have rescued four of the seven occupants of the Sienna bus and some other victims of the other kidnapping at the Ekan meje area.

Spokesman of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said the security operatives were still making frantic efforts to rescue the remaining three occupants of the Sienna bus and the pastor and his wife who are the victim of the Ekan meje kidnapping yet to be rescued.

Meanwhile, kidnappers at the Oke-Onigbin/Omu-Aran road are said to be demanding a ransom of N30 million to release one of their remaining three victims, Engineer Ayo Alabi.

The kidnappers reportedly got in touch with a friend of the victim, Mr Williams Owolabi on Sunday night and demanded a ransom of N30 million to secure his release.
