Police parade woman with AK-47, magazines hidden in garri sack

Police revealed that the 30-year-old suspect was arrested while transiting from Lafia in Nasarawa State to Katsina State

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has revealed that it’s operatives apprehended a woman identified as Hauwa Yusuf, who hid one AK-47 rifle and four AK magazines inside a sack of garri.

This was disclosed in Abuja on Friday
by the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi while parading suspects at the Special Tactical Squad (STS) headquarters. 

According to him, the 30-year-old woman was arrested by operatives of the STS along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway during a stop-and-search operation.

He went on to say the police officers were acting on intelligence gathered on August 14, 2024, adding that the suspect was arrested while in transit from Lafia in Nasarawa State to Katsina State.

He further revealed that the AK-47 rifle caught with Hauwa, who hails from Dutsin-Ma LGA of Katsina State was without breach number.

He also said the suspect confessed that one Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit terrorizing Katsina State, sent her to take delivery of the arms in Danum Madam Camp area of the state during interrogation.

While briefing journalists, Adejobi said, “Yusuf confessed that a notorious bandit terrorising Katsina State, Aminu Basullube, sent her to take delivery of the arms in the Danum Madam Camp area of the state.”
