Police operatives attached to Area Command Minna, Niger State have arrested one 27-year-old Abdullahi of Katsina State and the 23-year-old Rabiu Abdullahi of Kano State for suspected armed robbery and theft.
The two suspects were arrested at Fagge, Kano State, and the sum of N3,850,000:00k and 410 cefas were recovered from them. Case under investigation.
Abdullahi Maikudi lodged in a hotel in Tegina where he met a businessman on 25/09/2020, whom he monitored and established brotherhood from the same state but unknown to him that he was up to something else.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State Command, ASP Wasiu A Abiodun, stated that as a result of the established friendship, the suspect was able to offer his target a cup of tea laden with tramadol which made the man sleep off.
The suspect later entered the man’s room and stole his bag containing about N6 million and fled to Kano State, where he met Rabiu Abdullahi who was trying to aid him to flee the country.
In a related development, Police Operatives attached to ‘C’ Division Madalla arrested two suspects for armed robbery one Abdulhamid Aliyu a.k.a Dogon Soja aged 27 of Kwankwashe area and Haruna Saleh aged 25 of Madalla area of Suleja local government of Niger State.
The two suspects, according to him, were members of a four-man gang who invaded a residence near Nitel pole Madalla on the September 28, 2020 at about 0100hrs with locally-made gun and sticks when the occupants were asleep.
Abiodun said that the suspects searched the entire house and handcuffed the occupants, robbed them of two phones; one infinix and Huawei handsets and also demanded for a sum of one hundred thousand Naira ransom to release their phones.
The suspects were later arrested and they also confessed to the crime.
Dogon Soja and one other suspect, he said, were initially arrested and charged to court sometime in 2018 as leader of the gang that killed one SP Omale of Borno State Police Command at Madalla Motel but later released by the court.
The two phones were also recovered from them as exhibit, while efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang. Case still under investigation.
Consequently, the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded, the statement stated.
