Police nab two more students linked to Oromoni’s death

Oromoni is the 12-year-old student beaten to death by fellow students of Dowen College, an upscale school in the Lekki area of Lagos.

Two other students of Dowen College are now in the police net, making a total of five so far arrested for their alleged involvement with Sylvester Oromoni’s death.

Also, three housemasters who were on duty on the day Sylvester Oromoni was fatally beaten are also in Police custody.

Police say they have obtained a court order to detain the students for 21 days at the Juvenile centre.

Earlier,  the three students who visited the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba in the company of their parents were detained.

Two of the parents of the accused students had come out to say their children were not responsible for the death of Sylvester Oromoni. 

The Niche had reported that the family of the late Buruji Kashamu, former Ogun Senator, whose son, Michael, was named as one of the five students at Dowen College, culpable in the beating that led to the death of Sylvester Oromoni, has denied the charge against their son.

The brutal torture of Sylvester Oromoni, which resulted in his untimely death, has caused a lot of outrage across the country and beyond. 

TheNiche also had reported that on December 7, the Lagos State police command announce the arrest of three students of Dowen College in connection with the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

The total arrest is now eight, five students and three housekeepers.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Odumosu, who made the disclosure confirmed that three out of the five students were already in custody, while two were at large until their arrest today.
