Portable, the drama king musician whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, has been arrested by the police over his alleged refusal to pay off the full value to the dealer of his Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, a posh Jeep he flaunts proudly as latest proof of his street cred.
Portable had previously expressed fear the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) would arrest him for alleged naira abuse after the travail of cross-dresser Bobrisky who is currently serving a six-month jail term in Kirikiri for the offence.
Portable raised the alarm louder over his feared pending arrest when Cubana Chief Priest was also nabbed by the graft buster on the heels of Bobrisky’s jailing.
Lagos Police on Tuesday confirmed Portable’s arrest for reportedly paying N13 million for the vehicle worth N27 million, leaving a balance of N14 million he has refused to pay.
Lagos Police on Tuesday confirmed his arrest for reportedly paying N13 million for the vehicle worth N27 million, leaving a balance of N14 million he has refused to pay.
It was learnt that whenever the car dealer contacted Portable to pay the balance, he usually claims the vehicle is bad. The dealer reported the matter to the police after unsuccessful efforts to get him to pay.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed Portable is now grinding his nose against the cells of the police.
“Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought G-Wagon for N27m, paid N13m and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today,” he said.
