Police get bomb-detecting robots donated by US

Efforts of Nigeria’s security agents in the fight against terrorism in the country were boosted on Thursday as the United States of America donated High-tech bomb detector robots to Nigeria.

The Nigeria Police Force, in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said the U.S. Ambassador, James Entwistle presented the robots to the country.

The statement says the American envoy made the laudable donation by the American government during a visit to the Acting Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Mba said the ambassador, while congratulating the new police chief on his appointment, said the U.S. will continue to render relevant supports to the Force in the areas of training and security cooperation.

The ambassador, according to Mba, said the partnership between the police and the U.S. will improve.

In his response, the IGP said he remains committed to reforming the police force and repositioning it for better service delivery while also promising that the newly donated equipment would be put to effective use.
