Police deploy personnel in Makurdi for Friday’s APC presidential rally

The Benue Police Command said it had deployed 16 truck-loads of personnel to beef-up security at the venue of Friday’s All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Makurdi.

ASP John Bako, the command’s Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Makurdi, that the large deployment of personnel was because of the anticipated crowd.

NAN reports that the rally holds at the IBB Stadium, Makurdi.

Bako said the command had received an operational order for the enforcement of security at the rally, and assured of adequate protection of lives and property during the rally.

The police spokesman said that the command was expecting deployments from neighbouring states for support and to beef-up its personnel on ground.

Bako appealed to members of the public to refrain from acts that would jeopardise the security of the state.
