Police confirm Tiwa Savage’s petition against colleague, Davido

Police also said they have commenced investigation into the allegation of threat to life by the singer

The Lagos State Police Command have confirmed that they received a petition from ace singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage over alleged bullying and threat to her life by her colleague and friend,  David Adeleke aka Davido.

This was revealed on Wednesday, January 10, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.

TheNiche had prior to this, reported that Tiwa Savage filed a petition against Davido over alleged threat of assault and grievous bodily harm.

In the petition addressed to the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke on January 9, the Afrobeats songstress said the Grammy-nominated megastar threatened to “f**k me up.”

She went on to allege that the ‘Electricity’ crooner made a “direct threat” to her “rights to life, privacy and dignity”.

The mother of one further warned that Davido should be held responsible if anything untoward or harmful happened to her or any member of her family.

He petition partly read: “I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, Tiwatope Omolara Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage and MR. DAVID ADELEKE popularly known as Davido.”

While acknowledging the receipt of the petition, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, said they are already looking into the allegation of threat to life by the singer. 

Hundeyin said: ”I can confirm that we received the petition. We have began investigation.”

Tiwa Savage, in the petition currently trending on social media, accused Davido of uttering disrespectful words in reaction to a post which included herself and the singer’s Baby mama, Sophia Momodu’s Instagram story.

She also expressed disappointment at Davido’s threats and reminded him of how she stood by his family, especially when he lost his son, Ifeanyi.
