Police in Kano State have said Alhaji Aminu Bayero, the 15th Emir, will not lead the Friday prayers at the Central Mosque, urging residents to ignore the false information circulating on social media.
Prior to this, palpable fear had enveloped the ancient city of Kano after two contending Emirs- the reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and the dethroned Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, announced their plans to lead Jumaat prayers at the Palace Central Mosque on Friday.
A statement issued on Thursday night by Danburan invited Kano residents to come and listen to the sermon to be delivered by the Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
However, another statement from an aide of the deposed Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero invited residents to join him at the Emir’s Palace Mosque to observe the Juma’at prayer on the same day.

Gumel said: “The police urges the general public to disregard the false reports and misinformation circulating on social media and go about their activities without fear of molestation or intimidation.
”The police will continue to provide necessary security to ensure that will enable residents observe their Friday congressional prayers peacefully without threats to their lives and property.”
He further appealed to people of the state to volunteer credible information on the movement of dubious characters for prompt security action.
